Due to inclement weather during the month of August the renovation project on hole number 12 has slowed down considerably. Initially the maintenance staff was able to make good progress, then the rains moved in. Since hauling fill dirt in to the renovation site is a huge part of this project, we must be very careful to minimize damage while moving dirt. We are staged and ready to move more dirt as soon as the weather permits. Your patience is greatly appreciated during these times. Once completed the playability and aesthetics of the hole will be greatly improved.
Clubhouse Construction Update
By Scott Sheeks, Director of Construction
We are continuing to make progress on the renovation of the Clubhouse. The installation of the floor in the main dining room was completed recently. The floor has the look of a dark wood, but is actually made of porcelain. The next project will be the installation of the floors in the men's and ladies' locker rooms. If anyone would like a tour of the Clubhouse to see the progress that is being made, please contact Janice Fiorello at 813-948-4010 ext. 3 or
membership@chevalgcc.com to make an appointment.

Cheval League Teams are back in action as the Women's Interbay team led by Trish Frost played their first match against Avila on August 18th. All of our teams have been diligently practicing over the summer in preparation for the Fall season. Members Rick and Debbie Beardsley have organized round robins throughout the summer in order to keep their skills and games sharp. We hope that all of our teams have a great start to a new season and repeat their success!

The Cheval Athletic Club hosted another junior tournament on August 21-23, 2010. The Cheval Labor Day Super Series had its challenges as the tournament was interrupted twice by rainfall at the start of the first day of play. With the quick thinking and dilligence of our tennis professional Mark Palus, the tournament was able to complete the first day of play at satellite sites. However, the rain returned on Sunday when it suspended play during a Boys' 12s finals against Peter Litsky and Aaron Cary. The boys agreed to resume their match at their local club in Pinellas. Cheval thanks the tennis professionals and directors at Avila, Northdale and Emerald Greens for extending their professional courtesy and hospitality to our Club and the tournament players and parents.
The North Tampa Super Series for boys and girls in divisions 10s through 14s is scheduled for September 18-21, 2010. This will be Cheval's last junior tournament of the year as juniors around the state compete for the title. Court availability for Member play will be very limited during this weekend. Please be sure to check with the Front Desk for any court availability.
Junior afterschool programs will resume this month as the children are back in school. Please call the Front Desk for programs and times to enroll your child. Our tennis professionals are always available for private lessons and clinics.
Be sure to check out Cheval Golf and Country Club on Facebook for any latest news. If you have any exciting news to pass along to us, please email
tennis@chevalgcc.com and we will post it on Facebook!
See you on the courts!
